How to find a Spiritual Director using the LCSD Directory.

Our directory is a gateway to a diverse, ecumenical community of trained Spiritual Directors. Use the guide below to navigate your search and begin a meaningful relationship.

🔍 How to Search

  • By Name: Select “Search” and type a name to find a specific person.

  • By Category: You can select multiple tags at once (e.g., Catholic, Donation, Retreats) to narrow your results.

  • By Bio (Keywords): If you don’t see a specific category, type a word into the “Text” box. This searches bios for specific interests like "Enneagram," "Nature-based," or "Trauma-informed."

  • By Map: Click “Map” to find a Spiritual Director in your local area or borough.

  • By Tags: See the tags people have selected the same tags such as “Body/Embodiment”, “Working with transition” or “creativity”.

✨ Identifying What Matters to You

Before you reach out, it helps to reflect on a few key factors:

  • Tradition: Do you prefer a specific background (e.g., Ignatian, Benedictine) or an eclectic approach?

  • Vocation: Are you looking for a lay person, a priest/minister, or a member of a religious order?

  • Practicality: Do you prefer meeting in situ, online, or a mixture of both?

  • Interests: Would you like a director who integrates music, poetry, or psychological tools like the Enneagram?

🕊️ A Guide to "Good Outreach"

Our directors are often bi-vocational, balancing this ministry with other roles. To help the process run smoothly:

  • Check Your Spam: Initial replies from directors can often land in your Junk/Spam folder. Keep an eye on it for 48–72 hours after reaching out.

  • Be Patient: Responses may take a few days. If you haven't heard back in a week, feel free to send a polite follow-up.

  • Close the Loop: If you change your mind or find another director, please let the person know. A quick "Thank you, but I've found a match" is a kindness that helps our directors manage their waitlists.

🛡️ Our Commitment to You

Every director in this directory has agreed to the LCSD Code of Practice. This ensures they are in regular supervision, are committed to their own ongoing spiritual development, and have had safeguarding training in the last three years.
