Spiritual Direction can easily drift in to talking about God. This is worthy conversation, as we explore what may be happening in the life and prayer of a directee. However, we may be missing something vital. After all talking about God is not the same as encountering God. In this day we will look at where as Spiritual Directors we put our focus, and the ways we enable and hinder the encounter with God within the Spiritual Direction session.
Nick Helm is an Anglican priest, who has been involved in Spiritual Direction and training Spiritual Directors for over 20 years. He is passionate about encouraging encounters with God, not least in the context of Spiritual Direction. He was Advisor in Spirituality in Sheffield for ten years and then Ministry and Spiritual development officer in Hereford Diocese for another ten years. He is now working freelance, primarily in Spiritual Direction. He has published books in the Grove Spirituality Series: Soul Spark, Ignatius of Loyola and Seeking Spiritual Direction.
