The Self of the Spiritual Director

The non-anxious, centred self is the sine qua non of a spiritual director. We often seek training to augment our knowledge and techniques, but it is not more information that will form you as a spiritual director, but abiding in who you are, whose you are, and what you are for.

Julian Maddock

Julian Maddock trained at St Beuno’s and the Ignatian Spirituality Course in London. He has 30 years of experience in spiritual direction, training, and supervision. He has also tried his hand at teaching chemistry, computer programming, being a verger, and healthcare chaplaincy. He is a father. He is invested in the relationship with God, The Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius, the body, and presence.
