Developing Direction is the Centre’s programme of events and groups designed to foster the ongoing development and support of spiritual directors. We offer one-off days, evenings, short courses and supervision groups. To help support this work, Spiritual Directors can also become members of our Community of Spiritual Directors and thereby have a visible presence in our online Directory.
The Centre offers a series of one-off days, evening and short courses; covering a broad spectrum of topics, themes and practice issues related to the ministry of spiritual direction. They are led by experienced practitioners from all over the country and, in keeping with the nature of formation, will usually consist of a mix of input, personal reflection, discussion and prayer.
For the 2021 to 2022 academic year, our programme of workshops and seminars offering ongoing professional development for spiritual directors will be continuing online - the first Friday of every month from October 2021 to July 2022.
We are also planning to offer some “In Situ Saturdays” in London when we are able to do so, addressing topics best suited to a “hands on” format. Look out for news of these too.
The full list of topics for the online Fridays is available in our latest newsletter, accessed online here. The events will be on this website shortly.
The Centre has also created a Community of Spiritual Directors consisting of those who offer the ministry of spiritual direction and who have also agreed to observe our Code of Practice and Safeguarding Guidelines. You can find those who are members of the Community on our online Directory of Spiritual Directors.
The Directory is updated on a quarterly basis. If you would like to apply to be part of the Community, please go to the Community page page to download the application form, Code of Practice and Safeguarding Guidelines
Open to all spiritual directors across greater London and beyond, the network day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate spiritual direction and to enjoy meeting up with colleagues and friends who share this work. There are typically one or two talks, time for formal and informal discussion and a liturgy within which we are invited to re-dedicate our ministry and to pray for one another. This usually happens on the 3rd Saturday of November and we will advertise the day in the Courses and Events section of the website.
