New Horizons for London Centre for Spiritual Direction

Posted on June 11th, 2021

As so many charities have found, the last year has been a challenging one for LCSD.

Part of our response to that challenge has been to expand our offering online. This has benefited our training courses, being unconstrained by room space and travel distance into London, and as a result, we have reached more Spiritual Directors than ever, and many from much further afield. We give thanks that the life of LCSD is thriving and growing.

Like most organisations, our team has also adapted to working from home. Consequentially we have realised that we seem to have little need for the fixed office space in St Edmund. Our staff members are willing to continue to work from home for the time ahead, although we will keep this under review. Whilst our relationship with St Edmund will continue, we have now formally given notice to the PCC of our decision to cease our current office arrangement, although the LCSD postal address will remain unchanged.

Whilst in this season we are expanding our provision online, we are planning to return to events in person as soon as is practical. These may be held at St Edmund’s or in other venues, depending on the suitability of the location. As part of this change, we have also decided to close the library. It has been a blessing and resource to many of our students over the years, and we are particularly thankful to Mary-Ann for her commitment to it. We are currently exploring options concerning a home for the books.

For those of our community who have previously used rooms at St Edmund for spiritual direction sessions, you will be able to put in place new arrangements of your own with the team at St Edmund. LCSD are also looking at collating details of venues that have rooms available to hire across the area. We will continue to organise Supervision groups in person as well as on Zoom and more details about those will be available on our web site.

As the trustees develop the future vision for LCSD, drawing on all the experience of this season, do join with them, as together we pray for the work, life and future of LCSD and all who are part of this wonderful community.
